Autumn begins.

Here come the leaves. Autumn has officially started this week and this morning the leaves have begun to fall.

Recovery from summer stresses!

After the summer the rough and some areas of the fairways were left brown and bare due to the severity of the heat, wind and dryness of the summer months. Most courses suffer this problem due to soil types and turf management issues. Were are blessed with quick recovery which normally takes around a month before we see noticeable signs. The course is greening up well after the recent rain due to good fertility and aeration practices by our staff. We will be shallow solid tining the tees, approaches and fairways over the next 4 weeks to improve water percolation into the soil from the surface during the Autumn. By opening up the surface will also aid future work planned such as spraying the worm cast and softening the soil ready for verti-draining.
